About the Episode

Evan is a tech entrepreneur, investigative journalist, and co-host of the Longform podcast.

His book on Paul Le Roux, The Mastermind: Drugs. Empire. Murder. Betrayal. , shined light on a master criminal. Think of Walter White from Breaking Bad, but a computer genius and on an international scale.

The recent Craig Wright lawsuit brought up the possibility of Le Roux being Satoshi. At the very least, there are a lot of coincidences. We didn't come to a definitive answer but, to me, it's the most compelling case I've ever heard.

And whether or not he is Satoshi, Le Roux is "into crypto". What does the future hold for Le Roux if he gets out of jail in the next 5-15 years?

You can listen to this podcast without having read the book, but make sure to buy and read it after.

Also, make sure to read Evan's article in Wired: Was Bitcoin Created by This International Drug Dealer? Maybe!

Then, check out when Evan himself tried to disappear 10 years ago.

Thanks to my colleague Kai Sedgwick, who helped me prepare and wrote an excellent summary of Le Roux as Satoshi for news.bitcoin.com.
